Sleepaway Camp

I gotta say when I first watched this movie I was around 4 years old and had nightmares for a week over the last shot. Now when I watch it (being 24 as of 2009) I think it's a pretty good 80's slasher flick that would be a really good "pass the time" kinda movie. I have to say I think anyone who likes horror in the slighest should watch it once just for the last scene, it is so awesome and the image has been burned into my mind forever. My brother owns this movie and we watch it when we order pizza.

My rating on this movie would be 3-4 stars but for the ending scene alone it gets the full 5 stars. Something you'll want to have said "I watched Sleepaway Camp...great movie"

Wow!!!

As some have said, it has it's corny moments, but the end will BLOW YOU AWAY! I saw this movie over 25 years ago and it still rates as one of the best endings ever in my opinion.
That said, don't waste your money on the sequels. They both stink, BIG TIME!

an overlooked classic

I've watched every horror movie i could get my hands on back in high school, how I missed this one is beyond me...I remember looking at the box but never renting it... I'm glad i watched it...with movies from the 80's you have to make allowances like for example the awful clothes that are worn through out the movie (especially the men with their ridiculously high shorts) aside from the clothes nothing else seems dated in this movie as the dialogue and acting(for the most part) hold up. It's actually a funny movie, without the murders and the pedophile this could have been a comedy. But that's what makes this great it has more than your average horror movie. Character development, funny interaction among the characters and in turn you begin to like the chracters. This movie also has probably the greatest ending in movie history that hits you like a sucker punch. Completely out of left field...this movie is a must for anyone who calls themselves a horror fan. I'm glad I finally got around to watching this hidden gem.

Actually really good

When I first sat down to watch "Sleepaway Camp" I didn't think I'd like it. It looked cheesy and stupid. It WAS cheesy - but definitely wasn't stupid. I didn't guess the ending - if you like twist endings, this is definitely a good one to look into.
The movie starts off with Angela and Ricky going to camp - but mysterious deaths begin to take place...who could be the killer? To my surprise, the revealing of the killer wasn't even the part the shocked me. This movie, despite it's low-budget, actually managed to have a deeper meaning than what you'd think. Give it a shot - you won't be sorry.
